Apologies for a recent lack of information on our website. As you can probably see we have a new one! While we may have been quiet here, our offline activities have been incredibly busy! We will be posting lots of updates over the next couple of days.
Donations
It’s been a fantastic first quarter for hospital visits.
We managed one visit in January with a return to Whipps Cross Hospital in East London as we awaited sets to arrive. It was linked to a wonderful fundraising day held in December at St Aubyns School where pupils and staff combined to build a beautiful LEGO mosaic.
When February arrived we wanted to try something different. Could we possibly visit six hospitals in a single day? It turns out that we could! We had a tour of Greater Manchester and visited Tameside Hospital, Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport and then Wythenshaw Hospital before we had a little pit stop. Then it was back on the road to North Manchester General Hospital, The Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan and finally we arrived at the Royal Bolton Hospital at just after 4pm. We left LEGO sets worth £4800 at those six hospitals but of course we have set ourselves a challenge now of being able to visit seven or even eight hospitals in one day later in the year.
Attention soon turned to March with a triple donation to Bristol Children’s Hospital inspired by a very special young lady Tatiana who we will tell you more about next week in a separate article. Then it was quickly onto two Stay & Play days with volunteers from LEGO UK at first the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading and then a couple of days later at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechappel.
So LEGO with a value of £13,600 getting into the hands of children in the first three months of the year is something we are very happy with!
